"Art is playing, dancing, spontaneity."

About Me

Picture of Vicki Bloom painting with encaustic

I am an award-winning artist who loves to experiment and work intuitively, often without a plan or theme in mind.  For me, this process is freeing, forgiving and spontaneous.

You can see my extemporaneous process in the interplay of color and texture, the use of multiple layers, the inclusion of collaged elements, and the sense of movement and energy. The end result is that each art piece you purchase is unique and distinctive.

I consider myself to be a perpetual student, which is why I avoid being labelled or restricted to one type of medium or subject matter. While most of my latest works are painted in acrylic or encaustic, (wax), I also dabble in pastel, mixed media, alcohol inks, and printmaking.  Some of my work is explores marginalization among women and underrepresented groups.

Prior to retirement, I was a librarian and library administrator.  Throughout my professional career I took numerous art workshops and classes from great teachers. Most recently I participated in the three month intensive course, Art2Life and now participate in the Art2Life Academy of Artists.

After living in the Midwest and California, my husband and I, along with our old cat Jazzy, moved to Wake Forest in April 2024.  â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹
